Portobello Road, Notting Hill

I've been spoilt in the last few weeks and have seen my mega talented friend Thursday's Child Design every other week. After a catch up over coffee and looking out at the miserable grey skies we decided to cheer ourselves up with having a wander round one of the most colourful places in London... Portobello Road, Notting Hill.
The best time to visit is very very early on a Saturday morning when all the stalls are set up but the tourists haven't yet arrived. We went on a Wednesday which was lovely because it was so quiet and we could have a good look around without being bashed from every angle. What I love about Portobello Road is that the majority of the shops are independent, selling their unique designs or vintage china.

Our flat in London is really modern so most of these nick-naks would look a bit out of place. I secretly dream of renovating an old country home so I can fill it with vintage finds.
After a coffee and slice of banana cake we headed to Westbourne Grove to have a wonder around the high end shops. We were immediately drawn to the amazing Penelope Chilvers her shoes are just amazing. You can customise you shoes from the colour velvet to the embroidery.
It started pouring down we rain and we danced round the puddles to get back to our bus stop to go home via a quick stop at the Kensington TK Maxx! Ever since Prince Harry was spotted shopping in there they have upped the quality (and quantity) of designer goods they sell for reduced prices, in the hope Kate Middleton will pop in! If you need cheering up or a change from the Christmas mayhem of central London Portobello Road is definitely worth a stroll!
